On Wednesday, June 3, at Impacta (Los Lirios, Rancagua), one of the first events on the Chileprunes Technical Committee’s June schedule took place. The schedule also includes a meeting at ANASAC, the signing of a Clean Production Agreement (APL) with producers, and an event at UPL.
“The busy schedule reflects our commitment to the technical and productive strengthening of the prune industry, promoting opportunities for training, knowledge transfer, and coordination among producers, exporters, and companies linked to the sector,” says Pedro Acuña, executive director of Chileprunes.
The first event took place on June 3 at Impacta’s facilities at the Los Lirios Golf Club in Rancagua. During the event, participants addressed topics of high relevance to plum production, including updates on biological control of wood-decay fungi and the effects of abiotic stress on these diseases; the results of using phytohormones and their effects on fruit quality; and the concept of living soil, focusing on carbon, biological activity, and nutrition.
Following the event at Impacta, activities will continue on June 10 at the ANASAC facility in Requínoa. The event will feature technical presentations by specialists in key areas of plum production, including entomology, plant pathology, bio stimulants, and growth regulators. The program includes presentations by Christian Volosky, an entomologist; Simón Navarrete, a plant pathologist; and Cristian Riquelme, a specialist in bio stimulants and growth regulators.
Signing of an Agreement in Santa Cruz
One of the month’s most significant events will take place on June 11 at the Hotel Santa Cruz in the O’Higgins Region. The event will feature an activity focused on the certification of processing plants, the launching of the farm certification process, and a specialized talk on market trends—topics that are essential today for continuing to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of Chile’s prune industry.
The event will also serve as the setting for the signing of a Clean Production Agreement (APL) with producers, an initiative that seeks to promote more sustainable production practices, improve resource efficiency, and advance increasingly stringent environmental and quality standards.
Finally, the Technical Committee will conclude its June agenda with an event scheduled for June 17 at UPL. Luis Sazo will participate in the event, providing a technical update on pest management and addressing trends, tools, and key strategies for more efficient decision-making in the field. Beyond the technical presentation, the meeting aims to create a space for dialogue between producers and specialists, promoting the exchange of experiences and the joint development of strategies for crop health management.
Chileprunes highlighted the high turnout for these events and reiterated its invitation to producers and industry stakeholders to join the upcoming sessions, which aim to build knowledge, share experiences, and continue strengthening the development of an industry that is increasingly professionalized and prepared to meet the demands of international markets.
