The dried and dehydrated Chilean fruits, through many Chileprunes associates that have contributed with their products for this occasion, are also doing well at Expo Osaka 2025 in Japan.

During the week “Chile, agro-exporter power” that takes place from May the 5th to May the 11th, the agro-industrial Chilean products stood out including, among others, our super-food the prune, fresh, dried and dehydrated fruits and olive oil.

This is the first of more than twenty theme weeks programmed by our country during the universal exposition; there have been product samples, cooking shows and other activities to promote our important food products.

All of the above was set out during the bilateral meeting the Chilean President, Gabriel Boric, had with Japanese Prime Minister, Shigeru Ishiba, had this Sunday, May the 11th. The dignitary is there with the Secretary of Agriculture, Esteban Valenzuela which shows how important the agro-industrial sector is for the authorities.

Then, Monday, May the 12th is “Chile Day” at Expo Osaka 2025; President Boric will be attending also.

The participation of Chile at Expo Osaka aims to strengthen the bilateral relationships with Japan, to diversify international commerce, consolidating its presence in the Asian market, and to project our image as leaders in sustainability, innovation and culture.

“Under this umbrella the presence of the prune makes sense due to the innovation efforts the associates develop in their orchards and plants and the work we have been doing at Chileprunes leading a private-public effort to put the Chilean prune in the world and to create a certification that the product has been cultivated with sustainability”, says the executive director at Chileprunes, Pedro Acuña, summarizing the scope of this initiative launched within the framework of the program Chile Conscientious Origin.

Keeping in mind that Expo Osaka 2025 started on April the 13th and will last until October the 13th our country has a pavilion in the theme zone “Saving lives” aligned with the subtopics of the exhibition: save, empower and connect lives. The Chilean pavilion named “Makün: El Manto de Chile” (Chile’s Blanket) is a structure of 300m2 and it is covered by a blanket of 242m2 made by 200 Mapuche craftswomen from La Araucanía and Bío Bío. This design combines the native textile tradition with a sustainable architecture using cross laminated timber (CLT) and immersive audio-visual technology.

Besides Expo Osaka, Chile has strengthened its presence in international exhibitions like Gulfood 2025 in Dubai where Chile stood out for its commitment with sustainability mainly in prunes and nuts.
