Chilean prune is eaten not only at the tables in China, Poland, Germany or United Kingdom. It is also eaten in Lithuania, Argelia, Trinidad and Tobago, The Netherlands Antilles, United Arab Emirates and very close to the North Pole, in Iceland.
A total of 48 countries could enjoy the benefits of this super-food during the first three months of the year. During 2024 this fruit was sold to 78 destinations which indicates the diversity of markets we are reaching, they say at Chileprunes.
Regarding numbers, Chilean prunes exports amounted to 12,897 metric tons (MT), the equivalent of US$ 39.5 million.
Of these total amounts, a great part goes to China, even though one can observe a decrease in the preponderance of the Asian giant regarding the 2024 period. In fact, if last year China represented a third of the total shipments and a forth or the total amount of money now the volume represents 22.7% (2,934.7 MT) and the amounts of money 17% of the total (US$ 6.7 million)
Chile, the main prune exporter in the world, had among its ten main markets in the first 2025 trimester, besides China, Poland, Germany, United Kingdom, Mexico, Italy, United States, Australia, Spain and The Netherlands.
The main destinations in Latin America, besides Mexico, regarding amounts are Colombia, Peru and Brazil.
