Pause. Talk. Share in a relaxed atmosphere. Discuss everything under the sun, while delving into technical and commercial issues, reviewing the year, and looking ahead to 2026 in terms of dried plums.
This is what the Frutexsa team experienced a few days ago in Graneros (VI Region) with around 60 producers at this annual meeting, which is a very special occasion for everyone.
“This year we had the pleasure of welcoming them to our plant in Graneros, where we inaugurated 32 new plum drying tunnels. This is a significant investment, designed to continue supporting the development of the sector and better address the production and commercial challenges that lie ahead,” says Sebastián Plaza, commercial manager of Frutexsa.
The day began with a presentation by technical manager Juan Pablo Sotomayor, who made a comprehensive summary of the production season and the work carried out with producers. In his presentation, he also highlighted the trip to California, for the second consecutive year, with a group of producers, an experience that has been very successful and particularly beneficial. “This trip takes place just before the starting of the Californian harvest, which allows us to visit fields, learn about processes, machinery, and technologies in the field, and be welcomed with open arms by our peers, which generates a valuable learning for everyone.”
Subsequently, the director of companies, Sebastián Valdés, presented an analysis of the international scenario and the main plum-producing countries, providing a clear vision of the global context in which Chile is inserted.
Sebastián Plaza then shared a summary of the 2025 season, along with projections and key commercial projects for 2026, focused on continuing to strengthen the company’s value proposition.
“Commercially, 2025 was a good year. All the fruit was sold—around 10,200 tons of prunes—at a good price, above the historical average and on the rise. The business is good for the entire chain. It also ended with very low inventory, which means healthy stock levels nationwide.”
The day of presentations in Graneros ended with an exposition by Frutexsa’s general manager, Javier Plaza, who took stock of the year for Chile and for the brand in the prune market, highlighting in particular our commitment as a company to producers and the ongoing efforts we make to support them and build long-term relationships.
Then, there would be the customary barbecue, an old tradition, to share experiences and strengthen the bonds that have been built over years of working together, adds Sebastián Plaza, and “taking advantage of our sister company Piwen, we give each producer a corporate gift and a box with different Piwen products, as a way of thanking them for their trust and the work we have done together.
