With around 20 months of work and more than 600 public and private actors who have participated in this project, it can be said that a pilot project at the national level has just been completed, which made it possible to adapt the standards (primary production and agro-industrial adaptation) to the industry characteristics.

“The results provided information regarding the advances in sustainability that are currently being made; and, likewise, made it possible to understand the gaps that companies interested in becoming certified must overcome,” says Karina Orellana, consultant at IICA.

The project to develop a sustainability standard is projected to last 28 months and is divided into four stages: Standard Development, Audit, Training and Certification.

Precisely, the Training stage has begun, which is being presented through an open and free website, and which has resources of various kinds, with the objective that companies have the verification means requested to comply with each of the actions. For example:
