Under the context of MEWA India 2025, one of the most relevant exhibitions of dried and dehydrated fruits in the world, Chileprunes has developed a number of activities since February the 9th that have started in New Delhi.
In fact, since that day, its executive director, Pedro Acuña, has visited several retail outlets, from traditional markets to supermarkets, among them the well-known Kari Baoli market. He later met Juan Angulo, Chile’s ambassador in India and the ProChile team in India with whom mutual collaboration was agreed upon.
Among the novelties the executive reports, he found at Reliance Supermarket, a very big place, Chilean prunes in retail format; the same happened at 7 Bazzari; in other food stores he found prunes from California and others whose origin was not mentioned. He also found prune juice.
“We walked through Kari Baoli dry fruit and nut market and talked to the market traders; most of them are going to participate in MEWA 2025. You can see signs and posters everywhere revealing the importance this event has for them. In this place, the products are sold in bulk and packaged; there is fruit from Chile, as well as from California and Afghanistan”, said Pedro Acuña before traveling to Mumbai.
Amidst warm conversations and invitations to have tea or coffee in several stands the executive was told persistently that Chile is well known for the quality of its nuts.
MEWA will take place between February 12th and 14th at Jio World Convention Center in the Bandra Kurla Complex in Mumbai, India.
Over 300 exhibitors and 10 thousand attendants from more than 50 countries are expected to participate at the exhibition. Of course, among them, the stand from Chileprunes “to welcome buyers and answer every question regarding our industry…we will be there attentive so as our partners can network”, he adds. The 13 associated companies are: Kaiken, Prunesco, Superfruit, Frutexa, Goodvalley, Pacific Nuts, Sunsweet, Silvestres, Sofruco, Onizzo, Agrícola Siemel, La Palma and South 365.
Moreover, important Chileprunes partners have their own stand, such is the case of Prunesco, Superfruit and South 365, “whom with we will collaborate closely during the event”.
